Our love of contemporary Scandanavian art and design is currently boundless, particularly when it comes in a slightly surreal package. Klaus Haapaniemi’s work is very playful yet has a strong sense of narrative, possible a manifestation of his references to the Kalevala. Rich and lucid hues of colour give a tremendous depth to these charming characters, the mind is almost cast back to childrens TV tales of the seventies.
Klaus’s work is clearly a highly commercial commodity. Successfully delivering illustrations for Diesel, Levis, Marimekko, Dolce & Gabbana, Cacharel and Bela’s Dead. Enjoy.
